It looks like our hope for a NVIDIA driver which doesn’t require a reinstall every time the kernel changes versions might become a reality.

So I think this is good thing, but there was no comitment to open up all of its drivers. It may mean old chips sets will be given to open source, just as AMD does, but holds back the very latest. None the less, the action can not hurt and could always work out for us later.
