Going to buy a new Ergonomic Mouse - how do I know which are supported by Leap 42.1

Hi everyone,

Long time lurker here. I’ve been using Opensuse since 10.4 so I’ve been around for quite the while.

Now my trusty old Microsoft Laser mouse is about gone. The wheel is barely working, all parts have been used for almost 8 years and it is worn out.

The new mice look wonderful, but I’m not sure if many of them are not so well supported under Opensuse. I’m running Leap 42.1 atm.

So I was looking into several Ergonomic Mice, sofar in no specific order:

  • Evoluent Horizontal Mouse
  • Logitech MX Master
  • Microsoft Sculpt

Are any of these working well under Leap 42.1?

Thanks for helping me out!

One more mouse:

  • Handshoe mouse by Hippus.

I would expect ANY mouse to work well in Leap 42.1, as all mice that I am aware of support USB HID.

If the mouse states that it works with both Windows and a Mac, then it’s safe to assume it works on any Linux system as well.

The one exception I’m aware of is crazy gaming mice, like Razer and Logitech G700s and stuff like that, which I have had nothing but pain with.

My advice is to stay away from Logitech. Also stay away from bluetooth mice, and if you MUST select a wireless mouse, select one that comes with its own wireless receiver.

I am using a Logitech G700s and it’s crazy. Econo/cheapy logitech mice are great on Linux.

I have read online that Evoluent mice work great on Windows and on a Mac with no special drivers REQUIRED, and thus I expect them to work on Linux too. There may be some extra features (buttons other than the main left, right and wheel) that MAY or MAY NOT work on Linux.
