There’s some fixes, but too many irritating bugs! I’ll wait for a couple of months before going to 11.2, maybe by then it will operate as good as 11.1… :’(
What “irritating bugs” are you referring to? I suspect most of them could be resolved by people in this forum.
I installed it last week. I haven’t been bothered by any bugs yet. Maybe I’m unobservant – what’s been bugging you?
Ask for help if you have issues. There is no need to suffer in silence. I have not found any problems with 11.2 that could not be solved. There are plenty of people here who are willing to help get you going.
Hi everyone! Thanks for your immediate replies and concerns for my success with openSuSe. I’m so touched! :’(
Well, I want to apologize for getting ahead of myself and not slowing down. What ticked me off was the MySQL GUI Tools was not in the Software Management Mod, so I download the “SuSE Linux 10.x (x86) RPM’s” and was unsuccessful installing them.
Then I download the “Generic x86/64 Linux TAR” and couldn’t uncompress it with Kart, because it kept Freezing, so I had to installed Gnome’s “File Roller”. Then after uncompressing the file I couldn’t connect to MySQL.
That’s when the steam started flowing, gave up and that’s when I posted this statement.
But, after cooling off, I went through everything step by step and ending finding out I never turned of MySQL. :shame: So I’m a happy camper now!
But, I have two questio:
-
why didn’t “MySQL GUI Tools” get ported over to 11.2? And I don’t know if you can answer this,
-
I’ve installed 11.2 in a VBox VM and I get fragments of the “Tool Tips”. And wondering if anyone has fined tune the VM and would share your settings with me?
The GUI tools are in the OSS repo. What method did you use to search for these?

I’m not sure what you mean. Are some tool tips not appearing at all? Which ones?
Did you solve your mysql problem? I can not get the service back up.
I used YasT2 Software Manager for the search. So do I use the Software Repositories to download the GUI Tools?
yes they are appearing, working fine, but I’m guesting because it’s in a VBox VM, I may not have my settings rights or mybe the Video 3Dx isn’t working properly for this version. I didn’t have this problem with 11.1
Yes, I just turned it on using the System Service (Runlevel) mod in the Advance Mode. I checked 3 & 5 levels and used the dropdown box at the botton right to start MySql.
And I found the solution to where to find the MySQL GUI from my other post here, I’m assuming this is where you were going to have me look next.
You guy’s did an excellent job with this version!
Yast will list software that is available in your repositories. To see what repositories you have available or add new ones, check the repository manager in Yast. The OSS repo is added and enabled by default. Search for packages in the software manager, and install from there.
Thanks chief_sealth, I appreciate your help! I found it…
Well, sigh! :’( Looks like I have to go back to 11.1 anyway unless I can find a solution to installing php5.2.6 in 11.2. I running Drupal CMS and it doesn’t run under php5.3.x.
So what I was thinking is install 11.1, install all the Apache & php stuff and hoping I can update to 11.2 without it updating php. Is this possible?
or
is there an easier way? I really don’t want to download every RPM from 11.1 just to get php5.2.6. I started to do that and it got to complicated and time consuming…
Any suggesting before I go backwards?
