Gobi 2000 qualcomm GSM modem does not work

Dear all,

I would like to ask for help with my problem. I have an HP 8440p laptop with Qualcomm Gobi 2000 USB chipset modem installed. System is able to identify the modem and it is listed as an USB device. However in the network manager it is not available. I have made some research and found out that gobi_loader package might be the solution. Unfortunately, this package depends on pm-utils package which is decommissioned by systemd-228-22.1.x86_64 package and therefore cannot be installed. This means that in result, gobi_loader package cannot be installed. So finally I have no idea how to make this modem working.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Best regards
Piotr

Although pm-utils is deprecated, it should still be ok to install it? I’m not sure why gobi_loader would require it. You could also just try installing it and ignore the dependency requirement.

Hello,

Thanks a lot for the replay. I have try to install pm-utils, but yast gives me the only one possibility: do not install, so I assume that it is at least not recommended to install it. Any other advice would be appreciated.

Piotr
