GNOME transparency

Hi,
I am new to using Linux. I am using GNOME terminal and finding it great. The tranparency option doesn’t work. But When I set a background for the terminal and then adjust the transparency, it works. I want my terminal to be a see through one for my KDE desktop. Did anyone have the same problem? It will be great of anyone can help me fix this.
Thanks in advance

Open your console and try the following steps:

  1. Right-click on and empty space and select Edit current profile…
  2. Click on the Appearance tab and select the Edit button on the right side
  3. Next to Background transparency move the slider to 50% or higher
  4. Click on the OK buttons

That’s it!

Cheers!

Hi,
Thanks for ur quick reply. But I already tried this. I clicked on Edit → profile → edit → background, selected transparent background … and then I tried to move the transparency slider. It dint work :frowning:

Btw, I am using Gnome 2.24 version

Let’s try again:

Step 1. Right-click on an area in the GNOME terminal and select Profiles → Profile Preferences

Step 2. Click on the Background tab and select Transparent background

Step 3. Ensure that the slider is set to None and click on the Close button

Good Luck and Welcome to our openSUSE Community!

Also if you want to try** “terminal”** it has a nice transparency.
