Gnome Not Starting After Update (gdm issue?)

I ran an update after installing the OpenSuse 11.2 Gnome Live CD and could not start Gnome.

Signing in would only get me a blank screen with wallpaper.

Changing the display manager in /etc/sysconfig/displaymanager to kdm (from the default gdm) resolves this issue for me:

DISPLAYMANAGER=“kdm”

I’m not sure if anybody else has run into this issue, but that was my solution.

Hello,

Same problem here. I still had no time to debug.

cheers,

Setting

INSTALL_DESKTOP_EXTENSIONS=“no”

in /etc/sysconfig/windowmanager

solves the problem, now is time to find which extension
causes the desktop not to load.

cheers,
