[gnome] Nautilus - new file? statusbar? side by side view pane?!?

hi,

so i’m using enlightenment, but its file manager isn’t that mature yet. so i kept on using nautilus, the gnome file manager. but since those ***** started hiding everything, sure enough they needed to cripple nautilus and with the update i’m seeing it now. i’m missing 3 way important things:

  • F3 used to open an extra side by side view pane. where is it?!?
  • the statusbar is gone. no option to activate it again. how much free space i got left?
  • and finally, i can’t believe it myself, there is an option for a new folder. but not for a new file. WHAT?

am i blind?

Recommend that your look at “4pane”

It has the extra pane built in and always available. It can create directories or files. It has a terminal feature. Does all the old nautilus used to do.

I use it even as I remain with opensuse 11.4, gnome 2 as it is handy for complex file manipulations.

Give it a whirl. I assume it is still available within 12.3 repos.
