I noticed today that some distros like Ubuntu have a cool feature of playing music through nautilus whenever the mouse is over an icon representing an audio file which I could not find in openSuse 11.2.
Is there a way to have it…

i can guess (since you don’t mention it here) you use KDE…because
Ubuntu uses Gnome…so, i can guess that mouseover music is
available in openSUSE if you use Gnome as your desktop…
on the other hand, it does not sound like a cool feature to me…

Its not available by default. I like it so it is cool for me;).
I got the solution
Nautilus->edit->preferences->preview->sound files->always
This is no problem in openSUSE 11.2 as nautilus works the same way in SuSE as well. Nautilus is part of the Gnome desktop, but it can be loaded (with a portion of Gnome loaded) and run the very same way in KDE. I just tried it out, after changing its preview settings, and found the same ability to play music files with a mouse hover of the file. When using Dolphin, the default KDE file manager, you get a small music player showing up on the top right, which also will allow one to play a music file in it as well.
Thank You,
That sounds like Preview for music files. In KDE4 (4.3.5 in my case), the file manager Dolphin provides various services - one being the ability to play a music file from within dolphin in the right-hand panel. Even so, you have to start it by clicking on a mini transport slider. Haven’t tried Nautilus for that and not in front of a Gnome desktop at this time.
This is the solution if people you have not noticed it
