Gnome looks messed up

I booted my system yesterday and Gnome feels weird, the effects are gone, I have an ugly looking menu when I click ‘Applications’, double clicking a window doesn’t do anything anymore. My system is up to date and it has been mentioned in iRC that I have a missing dependency. I have no idea how to find which missing dependency I have or what I actually wrong with my system, I have only been using Opensuse for approx 1 month or so.

Also whenever I click ‘System Settings’ I am logged out, I have to log back in and load my programs again.

How can I fix this?

Any help would be appreciated, thank you in advance.

GNOME 3.X is refusing to to load
You are going into “fallback” mode. Something is wrong with your graphics configuration.
If you use nvidia you should have done this
https://www.suse.com/releasenotes/i386/openSUSE/12.3/RELEASE-NOTES.en.html#idm1262519932

You can also try => boot menu ==>Advanced==>Recovery

If you’re refering to the usergroup then yes that has been done, someone helped me setup the nvidia drivers in the iRC channel.

What would boot menu > advanced > recovery do and would it change any settings to my programs?

Hi,

I’ve also got this problem and have been trying to deal with it all day. I’ve got my user in the video group and the recovery mode works… to a point.

Any menu is completely distorted and unusable.

Looks like there’s a package in the last update that’s not happy with nVidia drivers.

Ok, I found the issue. The latest update does NOT like the nVidia 319.12 drivers. Once I updated the drivers to the lastest (319.17) the problem was fixed.

Double check which drivers you are running. If you are running non-official drivers, install the nVidia official. If you are running the official nVidia, make sure you are running 319.17. If all else fails, reinstall your drivers.

Thank you for the help guys, I installed the new drivers download from the Nvidia website and everything seems back to normal.
