Running the latest Tumbleweed snapshot with GNOME 3.16 on a Lenovo ThinkPad X220 at the moment. When I reboot or start up, the screen will flicker until after I log into my account. There is no issue with flickering after the initial login and then if the machine goes to sleep and requires me to login again, there is no flickering there either.
My initial thought is a graphics setting that is different until after my account is loaded.
Any insight into what I should be checking? I’d rather not leave it to autologin on boot if I don’t have to.
I haven’t tried Gnome recently. But I did try last month – I think it was with the 20150508 snapshot, but it could have been the 20150515 snapshot.
Using “gdm”, I had a lot of screen flickering. This was on a laptop with Intel graphics and the Arrandale chip set. I then tried the same thing on a different computer, also with Intel graphics but using the Haswell chip set. There was no flickering.
When I switched the laptop to use “lightdm”, the flickering went away. I think its a Wayland issue – gdm uses Wayland but lightdm uses X. I have not reported as a bug, because I am mainly a KDE person.
