Gnome icons missing for certain mimetypes

(used search, didn’t find matching topics)

Hello,

I noticed that some of my icons are suddenly missing. Filetypes are like .xpi, .db, .jar, and so on. The most common icons show, but those few have this kind of icon, which is ugly!: http://rollemaa.org/missing-icons.png

Tried to change icon themes but suddenly it’s the same in every single gnome icon theme! How is this possible?

How I can fix this? How I can assign certain icons for certain filetypes? Tried some googleing and copying icons to ~/.icons/icontheme/48x48/mimetypes/application-blaahblaah but didn’t help even tried so hard…

Any suggestions? How to get rid of those ugly default icons? Or where i can find that ugly default icon and replace it with something more beautiful? :’(

Thank you in advance!

Bump. Can anyone help? Sorry for double post, just raising this topic up people to see.

Okay, got jar working… it seemed that jar wasn’t application-x-jar, like it should, but it was application-x-java-archive for some reason. So I copied application-x-jar.png and renamed it to application-x-java-archive.png in ~/.icons/icontheme/scalable/mimetypes.

But I still have a question though. Is there a way to assign some “default” icon to all “unknown” mimetypes?
