I have a question about the icon sixe in gnome menues. I installed the program Calibre and the icon that shows up in the menues is like 4X the size of all the other icons. All the others are fine just Calibre.
How do I change the icon size to match all the others?
Hi
The icons live in /usr/share/icons/pixmaps for the moment and in
the /usr/share/icons/hicolor (to be used now). It depends on which icon
it’s pointing to in it’s respective .desktop file.
Can you browse to the pixmap directory and see the icon, is it big
there?

I’m having the same isse with the Calibre icon. It is huge and screws up the “Start” menu when it’s in the recently used programs.
I found the only icon in the /usr/share/icons/hicolor/128x128/apps folder.
It was huge in there (like 700x500). I resized it to 128x128 using theGimp and it looks ok there. However, it is still messed up in the menu.
I noticed a lot of other programs have icons in a bunch of different sizes in the hicolor area. Do I need to create versions of the icon in a bunch (or some specific) sizes?
Here is a solution for the icons not looking correct
Locate the icons in your system, depending on which desktop you use or you can open a terminal and type $locate calibre Scroll down the list and look for calibre-gui.png it will tell you where its located, for example mine is located in /usr/share/icons/hicolor/128x128/apps/calibre-gui.png.
Copy the icon to anywhere you want in your home directory, open GIMP resize the image to 128x128, 64x64, 32x32 (dont forget to rename them so you have all three). Open terminal sudo or su, open nautilus or dolphin copy the images into the respective folders /usr/share/icons/hicolor/(128x128)(64x64)(32x32)/apps/ don’t forget to fix the names back to calibre-gui.png when you paste it into the correct folder, then look for the calibre-gui.desktop mine was located in /usr/local/share/applications/calibre-gui.desktop. right click on the icon go to properties, then click on the icon and point the location to where you put the 32x32 size. close the properties and its done. next time you use the right click menu for a PDF or ebook the icon will be the correct size.
