Gnome display glitch?

I’m running openSUSE 11.2 x86_64 and the problem is the desktop descriptions under my desktop icons only allow 4 characters, like,
Fire
fox
4…
Beta
4…

Instead of
Firefox 4 Beta 4

I looked around for a configuration file and I tried different themes without luck.
Would anyone have an idea how I can fix this?

What’s your value for /apps/nautilus/preferences/desktop_font in the Gnome Configuration editor? Try setting that to a lower value, and also check /apps/nautilus/desktop/text_ellipsis_limit.

It only displays the font type, however, fiddling with the values in /apps/nautilus/icon_view restored the labels to 2 lines.
And changing /apps/nautilus/icon_view/default_zoom_level to “large” fixed the problem

Thank you so much.

On my system, desktop_font is the type followed by the size (sans 10). I have Gnome 2.30, though, it may be different in earlier versions.

Thanks again, it does show the size as well (10) but changing those values didn’t help.

Since the fix I’ve wasted much time customizing backgrounds, colors, font sizes, etc.
