Gnome Desktop Options for "Edges" - Missing Options?

Hello,

I have question involving the “Desktop Edges”. If anyone could please help…

In 11.2 if you go to “Control Center” → “Desktop Effects” → “Edges”, it gave you an option (i used for top left edge) where when I moved my mouse to the top left edge it would “zoom” back and show all workspaces, and from there I could move windows from workspace to workspace by drag-n-dropping them into the workspace I wanted it in.

Does anyone know if there is a way to get this option back??

Thanks in advance,
Matt

But are you using 11.2 or what?

Caf4926,

Sorry thought I had mentioned that, I am running OpenSuSE 11.4, just recently upgraded to it.

Yeah that’s what I was talking about (your screenshot). In 11.4 they only show you 3 options to choose for the edges:
1. “General Options: Show Desktop”
2. “Rotate Cube: Rotate Flip Left”
3. “Rotate Cube: Rotate Flip Right”.
There used to be an option (can’t remember off the top of my head what it was called) that when I moved the mouse to that edge the screen would zoom out showing all the “Workspaces” and from there you could double click a workspace to go to it, and/or you could drag different windows/apps that are running from one workspace to another.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,
Matt

Are you sure you weren’t using KDE. I know what you mean and it’s in KDE. I only recently started with gnome. Let me look.

Go to the desktop effects settings
Then the effects tab and check ‘Enable Expo’

You got it, we were on the same track lol… So I just came on here to let everyone know that I had figured it out, when I saw your reply that you had did too, thanks.

I had to download the compizconfig-settings-manager and then enable “Expo”… Yay!!!

It has to be my favorite/most useful effect of all of them, unless you only use one Workspace… But if you use multiple, I use 8 workspaces, it’s a Great plug-in!!

Thanks for your help,
Matt
