Gnome 3 frustration #4

I updated my laptop (Dell Lattitude E6500 8Gb RAM) to 12.1 x86_64.

I really miss the cube. It was a lot easier for me to pop from window to window, I use this to run many different traces and it’s just not that quick switching in Gnome 3.

Is there any easy way to run OpenSuSE 12.1 with Gnome 2 and Compiz?

> I really miss the cube.

i think KDE still offers that feature…

note: a better subject for this thread might have been:

can i have a cube using gnome2 in 12.1?

There is cinnamon, and mate. They might work with compiz, but I fear that
compiz is going out of maintenance⁽¹⁾. There is also xfce, that looks like
gnome 2.

(1) Seek this thread in the factory mail list: “Subject: [opensuse-factory]
Step up for compiz maintainership or it will be dropped”

I had read that last year compiz got someone new running the project but I keep reading on how it is slowly going down hill.
