Hi
The gnome-shell-extensions have been accepted into the stable repository and should appear soon along with an updated gnome-shell
Now, if you installed the extensions for my factory branch whilst I was working on the extensions, you need to remove the repository and remove the installed packages as there have been some name changes to the extensions.
I don’t recommend the xrandr extension, it will crash the shell! If you do try it, you only need to do a ctrl+alt+F1 and login as root user and zypper rm, logout and ctrl+alt+F7 and login.
Hi
Just an update, I’ve create a couple of extra extensions;
gnome-shell-extension-hotspot-icon-button - This GNOME Shell extension displays the distributor logo instead of Activities on the panel. In this case it’s the openSUSE logo
gnome-shell-extension-noa11y - This GNOME Shell extension removes the Computer Accessibility icon and menu (a11y) from the panel.
I’m working on some more (YaST in the Status Menu) and some others…
Hi
Just tried it here, have you updated your system lately? I have the applications starting on the requested desktops… I had actually restarted the system, so maybe a logout/login may help.
I’m still tiptoeing around my system but I am not getting many updates coming through. I can see plenty of upgrades but I do keep breaking my desktop (about four times this week) every time I try something so trying to hold back a bit whilst I get a feel for opensuse.
Anyway, I imagine I’ve identified the problem but as above am unsure of the solution.
Looking Glass tells me that the extensions won’t run on either my shell version and/or my gjs version.
Currently I have gnome-shell 3.01-4.1 and gjs 0.7.14-1.11.
Now I guess I need to roll back the gnome-shell to 3.01-3.1 to match the extension version…? In Yast, my next version down is 2.91.6-6.9.1 so unsure as to the best move.
For gjs I have 0.7.11 and 0.7.10 as possibles.
I’d appreciate any help and advice you can give as I find the current moving workspaces setup difficult to work with.
Looking Glass tells me that alt-status-menu and user-theme are running with windows-navigator failing due to incompatible gjs and or gnome-shell - no mention of auto-move-windows now.
Re the xrandr - added that yesterday which is how I found this thread so a belated thanks on that one too
The shell-version should be either 3.0 or 3.0.1 if it’s not can you manually edit (as root user) and change to 3.0.1 and restart the shell and see if it loads.
If that’s the issue I need to raise a bug upstream and add a patch to fix…
