Gimp for the Gateway Arch...

I need to create a logo featuring the St Louis Gateway Arch, in a
relatively realistic 3D style. I would like to use the Gimp for this
job, but I am at a loss as to where to start. I’m counting that most
folks know what the Arch looks like, if not, a Google image search will
turn up plenty of examples. Could someone post a link to some relevant
tutorial for the gimp?

Thanks!

Hi
Blender may be a better option;

It’s in the standard repositories (oss) or on the DVD. Just use YaST to
install or from the cli

zypper in blender blender-doc

Here are some tutorials for Gimp;
