Hi,
First thing I’d do is to drop the ‘texting’ in your posts.
We can all affort the few extra bytes bandwidth, and you do not
have to prove you’re ‘cool’ here.

Second:
python.org has a lot of documentation of course
http://www.python.org/doc/

If you installed python from the SUSE reps you should also have:
file:///usr/share/doc/packages/python/html/tut/index.html

There are other sources as well. e.g.:
http://python.net/~goodger/projects/pycon/2007/idiomatic/handout.html
http://openbookproject.net//thinkCSpy/
http://diveintopython.org/toc/index.html
http://www.devshed.com/c/b/Python/
http://www.awaretek.com/plf.html

For a progrmming environment you could use an standalone editor like
e.g. kate or vi, but you can also choose eric. Look it up in webpin.
There are commercial IDEs for Python too, like WingIDE (my favorite)
or Comodo.

If you start with Python now, I’d start with version 2.6. Python 3.0
is still in development, and is not really ready for production yet.

drop the texting? what do you mean by that
