Hello,
I have a stupid problem.
Since I’ve started using SuSE 11.1 I’ve had a weird problem. I can’t seem to delete/remove the icons “online help” and “open SUSE” from my desktop. I’ve also tried moving the icons by command line but I think I did it wrong.:sarcastic: So, wondering why I don’t have permission (I have administrator privileges) to remove these from my desktop. I also tried doing both while logged in as root. (sudo)
Are you using KDE 4.1.3 with plasmoïds? Would it be the case, your plasmoïds are locked. Before moving or deleting the icons, you have to unlock the plasmoïds.For that purpose, right click on the desktop and execute the unlock command in the window or, more simply, pressCtrl+L·
Not Gnome I know, but in kde3 it’s just right click delete. I can’t see why gnome should be any different. The only other thing I could suggest is go to the Desktop via your file browser and try from there.
This is not the way to do it. After the next update the files will all be back in place. This way your manually removing parts of packages. So your problem is not solved, it’s worked around for now.
The files on the desktop, as well in Gnome as in KDE are in /home/YOURUSERNAME/Desktop. Remove from there with Dolphin and you’re done.
