Generate X-events from script

Hi,

I have a new asus-laptop and almost all is working out of the box in openSUSE (just the fingerprint-reader makes troubles but that’s another story  ) To make use of the hotkeys I’ve installed asus_acpid, which is getting the ACPI-events and running scripts for them.

Is there any possibility to create an X-event from such a script to “simulate” a “normal” key?

Greets

There should be no need to install asus_acpid, since it’s already in the kernel. It might even be you installed an older version than the one the kernel alreay contains.
On mine most of the hotkeys work: brightness, volume mute/up/down. The ones in front to play CD’s etc. I simply never tried to use.

I have not installed the kernel-module, but just the daemon that is receiving the generated acpi-events and calls the scripts. None of the keys were working out of the box for me

This daemon is working, when pressing the keys the scripts are called, but I du prefer to get a normal key-event when from this script to use the keys in every application.
