GeForce GTX 1060 Mobile/Intel HD Graphics 530 driver

Hi all,
I am having some trouble with driver installation/configuration for GeForce GTX 1060 Mobile/Intel HD Graphics 530 cards. While installing Leap 15.0, I opted to not install the nouveau driver, since I knew that I’d be installing the nvidiaG05 driver.

After the fresh install, this is what my hwinfo looks like:

My display resolution is still limited to 800x600, and it does not look like the nvidia driver is active after install. If someone has any ideas to debug this, I would be greatly appreciative!

I’ve tried to install the nvidiaG05 driver with yast and the openSuSe easy way install instructions, but there is no difference and the driver is still not active.

Since the laptop has the two graphics cards, I thought that I needed to install the bumblebee driver first, but that also did not work.

Look forward to fixing this.

Thanks,
Fernando

You should not have messed with the nouveau driver the NVIDIA driver install should black list it. It is possible this failed because you did not install nouveau. Note that most of the nouveau driver is actually in the kernel so you only removed the user space part.

If it is an Optimus Graphics, the normal Nvidia driver from Repo is not working and should be deleted.
