GeForce GT 330M

Installed 11.3 on my new laptop. With the default nouveau driver the laptop screen works but no external monitor output, which I use most, so I install the Nvidia drivers.

Now I have external support but no laptop screen.
Does anybody have a config. file to get both to work.
or any idea on a laptop config.
The nvidia config. will only setup the external monitor.
I have tried, but no go on the laptop screen to work.

Thanks

So you have read all of the information on install the proprietary nVidia binary driver and you have it loaded properly and you can run the nVidia settings program, right? In the nVidia-Settings program you go to the option “X Server Display Configuration” and if you do not see two monitors listed, you press the detect display, the second monitor should show up, but disabled. Select the disabled monitor and pick configure. In the configure display device window, pick twinview. Then, hit the Apply button which should be lit up after you have made a change. If you want to switch displays, I still pick twinview in the first display, but then I select the other monitor and disable it. Then hit apply and this will switch monitors.

If you have both monitors enabled, the KDE personnel settings may be more flexible on setting up the region for each monitor to display. To select this option go to menu / Personnel Settings / General Tab / Computer Administration / Display / Multiple Monitors section.

Thank You,

A- YES

A-NO, IT does not.

Select the disabled monitor and pick configure. In the configure display device window, pick twinview.

A- Twinview and disable is blacked out . only separate X screen

Thanks for the help.
I wish it was that easy, I would have had It fixed.
The problem is a lot deeper then that.
I have hacked on the Xorg config. file and went as far as delete all of the xorg file and that did not even break my system. The only thing that I have found is that the only good for the xorg.config is to set screen resolution.

I am not sure what files it is reading on boot. The only thing I have not played with is the xorg.conf.d folder files, But I need a laptop config file to bonce off of to do that.

Thanks

I have loaded the nvidia from the repo NVIDIA 195.36.31 and the nvidia site NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-256.35.

NO joy with ether. on the laptop screen, but everything else seems to work fine.

I notice that my ctrl+alt+Fxx terminal keys sends me to a back screen, lucky F8 brings it back.

I am confident that it is the nvidia driver and/or how they are changing the graphic setup .
I am sure it will get straighten out eventually. But boy what a mess it is now.
