GDM Fails to load after zypper dup with default tumbleweed & current repos enabled

Hi,

After a clean install and fully upgraded system if I convert from 12.3 to Tumbleweed GDM fails to load after running zypper dup

I can get around the issue by going to tty1 using ctrl+alt+f1 and running zypper dup --from openSUSE:Tumbleweed

To identify the problem I forced an update of the following packages which were downgraded initially by running zypper dup which allowed GDM to load

libgio-2_0-0 (2.36.1-2.3) libgtk-2_0-0 (2.24.17-2.4) libgtk-3-0 (3.8.1-2.4)

I am left with the following situation which affects running zypper dup or zypper up can someone please advise of a possible solution or would this need raised as a bug against Tumbleweed?

I’ve got the same problem. I tried installing another login manager and log in, but gnome shell doesn’t load and returns to login screen.
please help
