Gateway hangs after few minutes

Hi,

I am new to Opensuse. I am stuck in below issue.

  After few minutes, once I connected to Wireless, my connectivity hangs means my internet connectivity failed. I am not able to ping my gateway. But once I disable it and reconnect it,   it starts working again for few minutes and again internet connectivity failed. Though I have another machine of Windows 7, there is no issue at that machine.

Kindly let me know, how to check and troubleshoot the issue.

You’ll need to provide some specifics for the machine you’re having
trouble with. At a minimum:

  1. What version of openSUSE?
  2. What is the wireless card in the machine?

Hi Jim,

  1. I am using OpenSUSE 12.1
  2. Wireless Card is Intel WiFi Link 6000 Series.

This is to inform you that I have check by getting IP from DHCP and also assigned Static IP and DNS setting, in both cases Internet Hangs.

By “hangs”, what specifically do you mean?

Do you not get responses from web servers outside your network?

Can you ping the router?

I even not able to ping Router. I didn’t face any issue with LAN Card but only facing issue with only wireless.

Let me know How I troubleshoot the issue or get information about issue to solve it.

Have you installed the iwl6000-ucode from YaST by chance?

Does it ever connect?

If it doesn’t, I’d follow James’ advice and make sure the necessary
firmware is installed.
