Games are crashing

I’m posting this here because this is an X problem(so I think). Most of my games that require 3D acceleration just crash. The thing that they have in common is:

X Error of failed request: BadRequest (invalid request code or no such operation)
Major opcode of failed request: 143 (GLX)
Minor opcode of failed request: 179 ()
Serial number of failed request: 726
Current serial number in output stream: 807
libxcb: WARNING! Program tries to lock an already locked connection,
        which indicates a programming error.
There will be no further warnings about this issue.

Here is my xorg.conf:

I’ve been having video problems recently and I ran these commands:

nvidia-xconfig --composite
nvidia-xconfig --render-accel
nvidia-xconfig --add-argb-glx-visuals -d 24

What’s wrong?(P.S. Everything worked fine before kernel update)

bumping the thread

Need the Xorg.0.log.

This is an old xorg problem(Well this bit libxcb: WARNING! Program tries to lock an already locked connection,)

But I suspect it is glx related also for testing purposes try to turn of the desktop effects(Has this changed are they on?).

The other thing can you run glxgears?

Turning off desktop effects doesn’t help.

I can run glxgears however it gives me this message:

Error: API mismatch: the NVIDIA kernel module has version 180.51,
but this NVIDIA driver component has version 185.18.14. Please make
sure that the kernel module and all NVIDIA driver components
have the same version.
XIO: fatal IO error 11 (Resource temporarily unavailable) on X server ":0.0"
after 4837 requests (38 known processed) with 0 events remaining.

And heres the log file:

Download log.txt, upload your files and earn money.

I don’t really need to read the xorg log for what ever reason you haven’t quite got the driver in.

Not sure how you installed this, but I’m suspecting you’ve had a bit of a headache and tried several different ways i.e the hard way and the easy way. Now you seem to have a mix of both from the looks of things you installed the beta driver but didn’t uninstall it properly.

Please use a paste bin (Your lucky I got it)
pastebin - Google Search

Now the how to fix well if this was me you’re going to have to uninstall the present one. You have to then reinstall the beta to then uninstall then reinstall the 180.51. I suspect you just complied over or 1 clicked over the top of one.

Well your right about the headache

How can I do a complete uninstall of both and then installing again from scratch?

As suggested above if this was me I would uninstall then reinstall to uninstall. Uninstall the non-beta, install the beta the hard way then uninstall the proper way(Sorry can’t remember exactly how not done the hard way for a very long time, think you have this doing it the hard way Man page of nvidia-installer)

At that point you should be clean but check by looking in yast to see what files it is installing and where it is highly likely to be the same place just different versions.

Then install the driver.

Oh rotfl!Didn’t even notice  Recent update fixed everything  Good thing I checked before making a big mistake
