except, there is the Evergreen project which aims to keep 11.1 security
fixed/patched…but that is a community, best effort, volunteer, TRIAL
project, see here: http://tinyurl.com/4aflkpy
The correct repos to maintain your 11.1 system with evergreen are on this
page http://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Evergreen (in the middle).
Packman essentials is maintained for evergreen, so there is a chance that
you can update your library.

Thanks Martin, but that repo gives the same error.
DenverD, none of those seem to have packman, and some of the links are
munged.
well, if it were me i wouldn’t be hunting by using that machine! unless
you are behind a hardware firewall, like a nat router…otherwise with
that old system you get get cracked and botted…
not saying you will, but you could…update to 11.4 would be wise…
if you don’t wanna leave KDE3 there are a few around running it on 11.4,
search the forum here, there are many posts on how to make 11.4 with
KDE3 work.
i moved from 10.3 with KDE3 to 11.3 KDE4 in about Feb …
at first i hated KDE4, but once i learned some of its quirks its
ok…and, the version default installed with 11.4 is pretty dang
good…if your hardware is up to it, you might consider the better
security from 11.4…
otherwise, prepare for the crackers…

josephkk: packman essentials repository has an unresolved bug regarding the type of key used. You can’t use it for now and should disable it. Keep your eyes peeled and see if this will change in the future.

Oh, i have firewalled routers between this box and the Internet. And they
are set pretty tight. I do find a small portion of web sites difficult to
unusable as a result.

I used the link form your post to another in applications:

If you install and setup the Smart package manager (with the 11.1 evergreen and packman repositories) and use that instead of YaST, you can install those Packman rpms. Smart has a feature that YaST does not have, which is the capability to disable the checks that are causing the problem.
That is what I did with openSUSE-11.1 and Evergreen up to a couple of weeks ago (when my wife gave away to a friend’s children our Laptop which had openSUSE-11.1 on it, and hence I no longer have an openSUSE-11.1 install).

I wish i had known that in time. I rejuggled a lot of mm packages from ?
to get a coherent system again. About 10 passes through resolver before
it settled down, i checked the offered solution and took it. The system
is nicely stable now. Still checking all the capabilities.
