Fulscreen doesn't work for videos

When on youtube or any other site, if you try and watch a video in fullscreen, the video freezes. You can still here audio, but the video will not play.

Is it happening in Firefox, Opera, Konqueror, anything else?
Version of the browser? openSUSE version?

Sorry, I forgot to include all that. It’s in firefox (whatever the newest version is) and I have suse 11.1.

You could do with being more specific. If this only happens with Firefox it will make a difference. Have you tried another browser/s, you should, it all helps identify the root of the issue. If the same thing happens in all browsers we need to focus on graphical issues - eg: Are you using desktop effects? What video card /devices do you have? More about your system and spec.

The radeonhd driver used by newer ATI video cards doesn’t have xv support. This prevents several programs to play videos in fullscreen. If you have a radeon based video card, try to use the commercial driver (fglrx) instead of the opensource one. Nvidia video cards are ok (at the moment).

Well the only other browser I have is Konqeuror and while it seems to work with it, it doesn’t work well at all. The video is very choppy and slow. Of course now konqeuror won’t even play the videos normally. It is also very slow in general for some reason. Are there are any other free browsers I should try that would help to figure out if it is a browser issue or not?

I have an Nvidia graphics card if that helps. I am guessing it is probably a firefox issue, but I have no idea what. I kind of figured it would have been a problem for more people, but I guess not.

Have installed the nvidia driver?
What model of nvidia? we could do with the info

Looks like it was a hardware issue. I thought I had the drivers installed, but I didn’t have the Nvidia repository installed. I for some reason never thought it would have been that. Well thanks for all the help.
