Full Screen in YouTube

My problem:

  • I can go to youtube.com on Firefox 3.5.6 OR Google Chrome 4.0.249.43
  • I can play videos on the web page (like normal)
  • If I click the full screen button next to the volume or HD button, the screen goes black, the video plays, but the video does not expand full screen.

So its a plays with a small video centered on the screen with a black background.

My specs:

  • Flash Player 10.0.42-34-14.1-i586 from multimedia:apps installed through YaST2
  • openSUSE 11.2
  • Nvidia GeForce 6800 XT
  • Nvidia driver (TwinView) - two monitors
  • Desktop effects enabled or disabled makes no difference

Any questions, please ask away. Its an annoying problem.

Update: if I pop out the video into a new Window from youtube, Maximise it, I can pretty much achieve full screen playback.

But that’s a manual workaround, I would still like to know how to fix this problem.

I’m using this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a1c8wCDOrk8) as an example.

Is this in KDE4 or Gnome. I use KDE4 and all is normal. But that’s on 64bit.

This is on KDE, 32bit

Works fine for me

Try disabling desktop effects, does that help?

Tried this, didn’t make any difference. I wonder if it’s my graphics driver.

Possibly, is it suspect or exceedingly inadequate ?

Oops
No it looks OK

You installed the driver? Yes

Yep I’ve installed the driver from NVIDIA - openSUSE

“For all new NVIDIA cards (Geforce 6 and newer)”

Ah I figured out what caused this, it’s because I have two monitors, setup as TwinView, if I disabled one monitor, I get full screen playback on YouTube. Hmm… I guess this is a bug.
