My problem:
I can go to youtube.com on Firefox 3.5.6 OR Google Chrome 4.0.249.43
I can play videos on the web page (like normal)
If I click the full screen button next to the volume or HD button, the screen goes black, the video plays, but the video does not expand full screen.
So its a plays with a small video centered on the screen with a black background.
My specs:
Flash Player 10.0.42-34-14.1-i586 from multimedia:apps installed through YaST2
openSUSE 11.2
Nvidia GeForce 6800 XT
Nvidia driver (TwinView) - two monitors
Desktop effects enabled or disabled makes no difference
Any questions, please ask away. Its an annoying problem.
Update: if I pop out the video into a new Window from youtube, Maximise it, I can pretty much achieve full screen playback.
But that’s a manual workaround, I would still like to know how to fix this problem.
I’m using this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a1c8wCDOrk8 ) as an example.
Is this in KDE4 or Gnome. I use KDE4 and all is normal. But that’s on 64bit.
Works fine for me
Try disabling desktop effects, does that help?
Tried this, didn’t make any difference. I wonder if it’s my graphics driver.
Possibly, is it suspect or exceedingly inadequate ?
Oops
No it looks OK
You installed the driver? Yes
Yep I’ve installed the driver from NVIDIA - openSUSE
“For all new NVIDIA cards (Geforce 6 and newer)”

Ah I figured out what caused this, it’s because I have two monitors, setup as TwinView, if I disabled one monitor, I get full screen playback on YouTube. Hmm… I guess this is a bug.
