I’ve done multiple SUSE installs over the years (versions 9, 10 and 11) and unfortunately I seem to be plagued by slight inconsistencies from one install to another which leaves me with some basic service, which I used to be able to configure and use without problems, missing.
My new server (SUSE 11.1 64 bit) is running nicely but I just set up the webserver and now I want to use FTP to update my webpages. Only I go to configure VSFTP like I have on my previous system but YaST is missing the icon for “FTP Server” under “Network Services”. How do I get that icon so that I can easily configure FTP on this machine?

Just install “yast2-ftp-server” from /oss repo.
yast2-ftp-server - YaST2 - FTP configuration
This package contains the YaST2 component for FTP configuration. It can
to configure two daemons: pure-ftpd and vsftpd.

Install yast2-ftp-server via YaST and then restart YaST.
