After the Grub screen it shows the normal booting messages then it shows a new and non-familiar message: “Starting postfix mail transport agent”, it never showed that message before. After that I get the green loading screen and finally a black screen with a frozen cursor.
I haven’t booted into Opensuse in a while so I don’t remember if I installed any updates or not prior to this error.
Well, I removed the Nvidia drivers, rebooted and it went into Opensuse without issues.
What struck me as rather odd is that the Nvidia drivers were functioning just fine for weeks until yesterday, when I just couldn’t go into Opensuse without the nomodeset option.
But if all that’s needed to get it to work is adding “nomodeset”, I would just do that…
OTOH, nomodeset should not be needed when installing the driver via the rpm packages (i.e. “the easy way”), as they blacklist nouveau anyway.
So I would suggest to just try to reinstall the packages.
