Hi,
I’m new to this forum as well as the distro.
Could you please help me solving this wireless issue.
I just did a fresh install on Alienware M17X laptop.
Everything seems to work fine but wireless.
I see the wireless tab grayed out in networkmanager.
Tried switching to Yast with no effect. Can’t update for the same reason.
I’m lost
In YaST’ hardware info I can see the device :broadcom4322, as well as it’s driver: ssb. It looks like it’s installed but not loaded for some reason. Maybe because my wireless router’ security restrictions (128bt + mac address) the system couldn’t auto connect during install…
This is confusing …
Ok, I managed to download the broadcom-wl package using my other laptop from packman, but looks like I still can’t install since the package requires some additional repositories and for those I need internet connection. Is there a way to download a COMPLETE package for broadcom device?
To get my Broadcom card to work on my Dell D620 I had to install the “b43-fwcutter” tool from yast and run “install_bcm43xx_firmware” from CLI. After that I was able to use networkmanager to connect to wireless networks.
Do you have the same unsupported 4322 ?
I read that your method is good for 431x , but they are supported.

All but 4315, and that is supported in kernel 2.6.32.
So what can I do then?
I just tried the magical “single click” option from packman and as part of the installation that kernel version was also installed. Tried: modprobe wl - module not found?
iwconfig gives nothing as well:no wireless extensions
Rebooted - still nothing.
Can you please help here , guys?
I used this Fix BCM4311/4312/4321/4322 Wireless in openSUSE 11.1 and earlier | SUSE & openSUSE - it supposed to be the one for BDCM4322, right?
Also it’s for Opensuse11.1 and earlier, but I’m using the latest one,- could this be a problem?

Kernel modules are specific to a given kernel. Whatever the command
‘uname -r’ MUST be matches by the broadcom-wl package.
