I just installed LEAP on another laptop last night, and upon updating to the latest kernel, it fails to boot. It sits on the boot splash screen and never makes any progress. Pressing Esc doesn’t work, there are no messages to be displayed, also nothing in the logs. However, 5.3.18-150300.59.49.1 does boot. FWIW, I have one laptop running the .54.1 kernel, and one that won’t boot it. Anyone else run into this? Ideas on how to fix it? Other than locking the currently working kernel, which I will do if necessary.
You need to determine what to fix first. Boot with “plymouth.enable=0” and without “quiet” on kernel command line; this may provide more information what happens.
Thanks for the advice. However, apparently it started booting immediately after I made those changes. I updated grub so maybe it was a corrupted bootloader config.
