fresh install of tumbleweed 02-18 snapshot from media dvd wickedd error's flooding system

After a fresh install of Tumbleweed in a dual boot configuration, it is so slow as to be almost unusable. the hard drive light is on solid. So something is doing a lot of i/o.

i installed iotop and found that the massive amounts of i/o were coming from systemd-journald

upon doing a journalctl command i see thousands of messags from wickedd as follows.

There seems to be a DHCP problem.

The log message is truncated. I’m guessing that you are getting a very short lease time, and having to immediately renew.

Switch to NetworkManager, and see if that improves things.

note that by switching to NetworkManager instead of Wicked solved the issue that I was having.

It is always set ny the DHCP server. If you have a static address there
will not be a lease time used.
