Before we can even begin to help you, there are a number of questions we need to answer.
- Don’t you really mean openSUSE rather than suse (which is a different operating system)?
- If you mean openSUSE, do you mean 12.3 32 or 64 bit with KDE or GNOME?
- How did you install it (from DVD or Live)?
- Internet-wise, are you trying to connect to a personal modem whose IP address is set using DHCP?
- Sound-wise, what hardware do you have and can you hear the login sound or not?
After you answer these questions, we will probably still not have the answer, but it will help us ask the next set of
questions whose subsequent that may help diagnose and rectify one or more of the problems you are having.
yes its opensuse 64 bit kde installed from dvd. and trying to connect to dhcp but that isnt the problem its the lan drivers i need also i have a creative sound blaster xi-fi fatality sound card
as ive said the sabertooth x79 motherboard drivers arent being installed assuming opensuse doesnt install them in default installation

This is your PC’s network device. It should be working. There is a bug in openSUSE-12.3 where the packagers forgot to enable the network by default in the burned installation .iso files. Audio is another matter and it could be an incompatibility with your PC’s sound blaster xi-fi fatality sound card. Have you ever succeeded with any GNU/Linux variant to get sound to work with the sound blaster xi-fi fatality sound card?
I recommend first you get the network/internet working and then we can investigate if GNU/Linux works with your sound device.

I’m not sure how you came to this diagnosis and whether or not I agree with it. Can you ping 127.0.0.1?
I note this is an old thread, but I am curious wrt the OP, did you have any luck with this Sabertooth x79 and any GNU/Linux version ?
I ask because this is one of five motherboards on my ‘short list’ of a motherboard for a new PC that I am contemplating to purchase.
