fresh download

I am trying o download a fresh copy of Open Suse ver 11 . I select 32 bit, HTTP, DVD and when I right click on the DVD link it shows the file size as 289 MB only where as the DVD version is of 4.6 GB

What could be the possible reason. 64 bit shows correct size

Maybe they have some problems with downloads. I’m tried to download 32bit 11.0 DVD via FTP, but it was unavailable, or something similar.

Personally, I prefer torrents and the 1.8MB/s that I can get with them :stuck_out_tongue:

Pulling data from a cloud is generally more reliable because a server has the possibility of single point failure.

Plus, torrents undergo hash checks as they download, so the chance for corruption is significantly less:)

P.S. I would check the torrent’s seed count, but Ktorrent won’t let me start it because I’m out of disk space (repartitioning now)

Windows machines have a KNOWN problem downloading files larger than 4GB in
size. The ‘289MB’ you’re seeing is the full size modulo 4GB.

Try downloading with something other than the browser, a download helper or
something, FileZilla works well. Crazy’s suggestion of using a torrent is
actually valid, as the torrent downloaders don’t have this ‘bug’.

Also, if you’re using FAT32 as your filesystem, you will NOT be able to
download the file, as FAT32 has a 4GB file size limit hard coded. You’ll
need to be using NTFS in that case.

You may wish to try the ‘NET’ install method, it’s 71MB and works quite
well. It downloads the files it needs to install openSUSE on the fly,
performing exactly the same type of install as the installation DVD.

But when I try 64 Bit, it shows the correct file size.
I am using Firefox browser and it has no limit.

If there was option of attachment, I would have taken a screen shot of both 32 bit and 64 bit and attached it for ref.
