Frequent freezes on laptop

Hi,

I have two notebooks, both running a very similar, fresh installation of Leap 15. My first notebook, which is a more recent Kaby Lake Panasonic SZ6 however is experiencing frequent freezes.
It’s not KDE that freezes with its sad face, but parts of the system seem to freeze:

  1. Firefox cannot be closed clicking on close button, but I can open up new tabs and browse. Same goes for other programs. I can use Konsole an run command, but I cannot close Konsole’s GUI with the mouse.
  2. Window switching with the mouse does not work, I can however scroll through the open windows when hovering over the task manager and then use the keyboard.
  3. Windows key does not open the application menu, but Alt-F1 works. But I cannot really open a program there.
  4. Touchpad also shows erratic behavior (synaptics driver installed). When I click on window it immediately selects in and it’s glued to the mouse, which means I can move the window around, but somehow I cannot let go. Pressing Esc seems to deselect the window again.

So all in all the system frequently becomes unresponsive (around four times a week) but it’s not KDE (alone?) - killing plasmashell and restarting Plasma doesn’t help.

I rebooted using systemctl reboot in Konsole. Here is the log for the relevant time:

Thanks for your help.

That URL provides nothing useful. Clicking on its “freeze” link does nothing. If you upload your log to http://susepaste.org/ then I can access it.

I have multiple Kaby Lake systems that run 15.0 just fine, though neither has KDE installed. What happens if you select an IceWM session in the greeter instead of KDE? If everything works, then you know it’s not an Xorg problem.

Is this a Intel+Nvidia hybrid graphics system??

No, it’s Intel only.
