I get this when trying to login in this forum.
Since the last few days I see this as well on some logins (but not on every login). It does not matter whether I just started Firefox or have already been using it for a while.
However when it happens I can press the “Login” button again and I’m logged in without entering the password a second time.
My system:
Operating System: openSUSE Tumbleweed 20230822
KDE Plasma Version: 5.27.7
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.109.0
Qt Version: 5.15.10
Kernel Version: 6.4.11-1-default (64-bit)
Graphics Platform: X11
Graphics Processor: Mesa Intel® HD Graphics 630
Firefox 116.0.3
@conram not seeing it for me, however the login system is not controlled by the Forum. Maybe try clearing you cookies for the openSUSE Domain and see if that helps.
In my case, this problem also occurs when logging into the openSUSE forum.
The same logging into openSUSE weblate is without problems.
I create my account here few days ago and had the same message after my first connexion.
Just refreshed it multiple times and it was ok then.
I experienced this since a few days.
There is a message in red rectangle that says something about it not succeeding (as shown in post #1 above).
But staying stubborn and hitting the “Login” button again and again, I am “in” after a few (at least up to four) trials.
But as mentioned above, once you have entered your password, it may return, but in the end you will be in without having to type the password again.
Annoying.
My browser is configured to delete all session data (incl. cookies) when I close it. Nevertheless the problem may occur when I open the browser and try to login to the forum.
Same here. No cookies left over.
Just had it.
By incident I closed the FF window on the forums. No other FF open, thus cookies cleaned, thus new login required.
Clicked on a link in a subscription mail. FF openened the topic and asked for the master password for FF logins. Clicked the login button and got the login page. FF filled it with the credentials. Clicked Login. So far all as normal.
Got a page with the error (neatly translated into Dutch). Clicked Login again. Saw the forums main page, which was within a second replaced with the error page. Clicked login again. Repeat. Had to click for or five times before the main page stuck and I could continue with normal actions on the forum.
@conram et al. Can you note the time if/when it happens again to see if can see an error in the Discourse logs
@ malcolmlewis, this happened starting August 24 - 26. Like what the posters said, the failed login when I click the login button again I will be automatically login without entering the password. My browser is also configured to delete all sessions/cookies when I close it.
I was busy today so this is the only time I am able to login to the forum and I was able to login without a problem. Thanks.
My post #8 above was made direct after to eventful login. When you can get a decent timestamp for it, then at was 5 - 10 mins before.
BTW, just logged in first time today and all went well.
Here it happened again at 28.08.2023 16:01 CEST.
2023-08-28 18:35 CEST.
Just one time the error.
@hcvv @susejunky @conram @jaared I’ve logged an infrastructure ticket, it’s outside of the Forum Discourse instance.
https://progress.opensuse.org/issues/134747
Stay tuned…
Thanks. We will see if they find the culprit.
Just now I could login without any “strange” behaviour.
Thank you very much !!!
Don’t be happy too soon.
I just logged in without issue, but remember I had the same yesterday and later the problem showed.
As mentioned earlier, it happens not all of the time. Which of course makes it more difficult to hunt down.
I saw the same error couple of times before a successful login
I’m afraid you are right.
Just (approx. 29.08.2023 21:05 CEST) I again could not login. But this time there was a different error (which I forgot to capture).
