I’m using openSUSE 13.2 with KDE plasma 5.4.
In the system settings I have enabled digital audio output and it works flawlessly. However, every time I reboot the machine only analog audio is enabled and I have to re-enable digital output again, which is a bit annoying. Is there a way to keep digital audio enabled? Is this more of a plasma issue maybe?
I don’t have any experience with multiple audio outputs or switching between them.
But make sure you use systemsettings5, not KDE4’s systemsettings, to have your settings applied on login.
You could also try to install plasma5-pa and use that to set the output I suppose, this is a direct frontend to PulseAudio.
I will give plasma5-pa a try.
After the last restart it was even stranger than before. Digital output still was enabled but chrome did not output any sound on it. Only after several tries of de- and re-activating did I get sound again. The “Test” sound inside of systems settings worked all the time though.
