Force nouveau driver

Booting without options:
SUSE Paste
Booting with nomodeset
SUSE Paste

Okay, well the first log (without nomodeset?) shows that the fbdev (basic framebuffer) driver is being used. There is no reference to the nouveau driver being available or used. The second log shows that the vesa driver was loaded instead. I note that in both cases there is a line which mentions the presence of xorg.conf

    28.177] (==) Using config file: "/etc/X11/xorg.conf"

Are you running this as a virtual machine guest? I don’t see any reference to NVIDIA graphics hardware in the first log.

Nope!Opensuse is running on the real machine!

Then my thoughts are that you need to submit a bug report.

Maybe Suse get’s confused by the on board GPU. The mother board has an onboard GPU ( a sis one ), but i installed the Nvidia on the AGP.

This is my xorg.conf.
SUSE Paste
a BIT strange!

That is the xorg.conf.install file, used during installation. Did you rename it? (It is safe to delete).

removing xorg.conf cause X to not start. Yes the xorg.conf is that one from the install. I did a cp xorg.conf.install xorg.conf in order to see if there was a better color depth\resolution.
This is startx without xorg.conf
SUSE Paste

Were you trying startx as root? (You can no longer do this by default).

yes, as root… rebooting has the same effects!
