Football (Soccer) Game

Hello everyone!
I’m a newbie in linux and opensuse,
does this operating system has a football (soccer) game?
like Winning Eleven in playstation or PC?
Since its a WorldCup, i’d like to play this game again.

Please tell me how to install the game step by step.
Thanks
regards

First of all, to run a native Windows game, you will have to use Wine, which is a Windows Emulator.

I suggest you visit WineHQ - Wine Application Database and look what works and what doesent.

Good Luck!

Google this: soccer game linux
and find some games e.g. yoda soccer
I haven’t tried them

“The name Wine derives from the recursive acronym Wine Is Not an
Emulator.” cite: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wine_(software)

What would you describe it then? :stuck_out_tongue:

If memory serves me right,in the early days of wine, wine looked at your windows 3.x system to get all it’s info and expected you to have a licensed version of windows.
It has now come to the point where a windows license or installation is no longer necessay for it to run.
The trouble with the games market is that most of the games development is done for windows where most of their users are. It’s also a lot easier to hack a program together as a mediocre programmer than linux is.

well, (using/correcting/improving (?) your words):

First of all, to run a native Windows game, you will have to use
WINE–a free, open source program which allows that. I suggest you
visit ‘WineHQ - Wine Application Database’ (http://appdb.winehq.org/)
and look at what works and what doesn’t.

If you want to run a Windows soccer game, then you definitely need Wine. Here’s the Wine appDB entry for the game you mentioned: WineHQ - Winning Eleven 8 International 1.0

The experience doesn’t seem to be very satisfying (you can’t even run in fullscreen, according to the info) so if I were you I would try some native Linux football game. None that I’ve tried, but this one seems interesting: Bygfoot Football Manager - Overview

But if you really want to run a Windows game on Suse, then go to YaST software manager and install Wine from there. Then try running the game with it.

try this
Webpin

they all have one-click installs so it shouldn’t be too hard to install them
