Hi,
how to make smooth fonts in opensuse 11.3 like in ubuntu lucid?
I read the post with cairo modified packages but as for me it doesn’t solve the problem.

I have had good results with this procedure for years now

1 Download the Microsoft truetype fonts (if you can get your hands on the additional Tahoma font all the better)

2. go to YaST -> System -> /etc/sysconfig Editor and change value of Desktop -> BYTECODE_BW_MAX_PIXEL to 18

3. These font settings then work out pretty well for me - with anti-aliasing turned off
