I just installed openSUSE Gnome on my desktop and all the fonts are the same, on every site and throughout the desktop!
Why is this? I installed it from the LiveCD if that makes a difference…the 64-bit version.
Please help me, it’s really annoying. I hate seeing this same font everywhere I go whether online or offline. I’m a webmaster too and my site uses Arial font but it doesn’t even show web pages with unique fonts correctly, it just shows the same font over and over.
How can I fix this guys?
Is it because Windows fonts, such as Arial, Verdana, Tahoma, Trebuchet, and Times New Roman aren’t installed by default on Linux? If so, how can I download the fonts and use them on OpenSUSE, so that my own websites display properly [with the correct fonts]?
I see that I have the fonts in my usr/share/fonts directory as ttf, but I do not know how to do what you linked me to.
I’m just starting out Linux. I didn’t know this distro would set a default font for everything…from desktop to web browsing. It’s really annoying, because the font’s really small.
How can I disable this so fonts render correct? I don’t know what an RPM is or how to build it etc…but I see that I have the fonts in the directory I just mentioned, so they are installed…just how do make the OS start using them instead of one single font?
Hi
On the Computer Menu off to the right is a link to Control Center, in
here there is an icon called ‘Appearance’ select this to re-configure
your fonts. In Firefox, under preferences is where you configure the
fonts as well.
