Font rendering

So on my laptop somehow everything looks great till I open firefoz or chrome the font in the Google search results are jagged and dis pleasing to look at. Im wonder how I could fix this

Hi , welcome to the forums,

Please provide more info: desktop used, what you have done to try fix it, etc.

Goto YaST -> fonts -> force hinting = slight

In KDE font controlpanel activate antialiasing, select hinting slight or in GNOME use the tweak tool under fonts set slight hinting.

If you need further improvement use subpixel rendering from Install package home:namtrac:subpixel / freetype2

Currently using kde and I haven’t done anything to fix it

Oh wow thank you this worked great I’ve been looking for a solution since last night and couldn’t figure it out

Perfect, glad I could help.

One comfort is that openSUSE looks great on a HiDPI screen which would be the future of laptops I assume. Just a bit other problems in that respect, but hopefully fixed over time.

How does one use that on Tumbleweed? It seems there is no repository for Tumbleweed.

Thanks. Used this on a Desktop with an ASUS 24" monitor and it worked here as well.

Um, in openSUSE 42.1 with Plasma5 desktop.
