Font corruption in X - Anyone else seeing this?

Hi,

I am trying to isolate a font corruption in X so that I may report it appropriately.

The symptom is that the lower part of a character is missing. This is random but repeatable for the affected character across applications in the same X session.

The effect is most visible in window title bars and pages rendered in Firefox but I think it is a general problem affecting font rendering.

The components I am trying to isolate the problem with are:

Intel 915GM graphics
Xorg
KDE 4.4.4

I would appreciate any responses from people experiencing the same problem with different graphics hardware or under GNOME.

I know this thread is several months old, but I thought I’d reply anyway. I’m experiencing exactly the same font corruption problem with the Intel 915GM, but I’m using Gnome (Ubuntu 10.10). I’ve also tried the latest kernel (2.6.37-rc8), but the problem still exists. Any luck on your end?

I can’t speak for Ubuntu but I solved my problem by changing the X.org driver from intel to intellegacy.
