Flatpaks neither opening nor showing up, although installed (KDE)

After switching back to Tumbleweed - I had used it once before I replaced it with Windows a few months ago - several Flatpak apps that used to work perfectly on the first installation are unable to open themselves up. Via Discover, I tried to click on “Start” on the respective pages, but nothing happens afterwards. They do not show up in my applications menu as well.

I attempted to use these programs:

  1. Asunder
  2. fre:ac
  3. GIMP
  4. Puddletag

What is the output when you start them via terminal?

flatpak run ca.littlesvr.asunder
flatpak run org.freac.freac
flatpak run org.gimp.GIMP
flatpak run net.puddletag.puddletag

Is your system properly upgraded via zypper dup?

Tried fre:ac, which immediately put out this message:

Gtk-Message: 18:44:11.176: Failed to load module "canberra-gtk-module"

Otherwise, the program opened up fine. However, it still does not show up in the applications menu. I experienced a similar issue with Zapzap after installing it through YaST, which could be resolved after typing it into the search bar.

Is this a fresh installation? Did you restart your system after installation of flatpak?

Yes, it is basically a fresh install, just a few hours old. Already tried multiple restarts, but none of them solved it. Adding the repo/setting up Flatpak also did not change anything.

Most likely an SElinux issue. Search the forums for “SElinux”.

If possible, could you precisely describe what issue SELinux might cause in this case? I did not seem to encounter any posting related to SELinux and Flatpak. Thanks in advance!

try disabling SElinux, then try again.
I’m on this 4 yo TW install, so don’t have it yet. Migration to SElinux planned but not yet ready for it.

Worked for me; installed flatpaks now also show up again. Thank you for your advice!

You should really collect the necessary information and open bug report.

https://en.opensuse.org/Portal:SELinux and scroll to “Report a SELinux bug”.
