Still on Leap 15.6 here, but couldn’t tag it, so tagged 15.5.
Flatpak is installed:

My problem:
:~> LANG=C flatpak install flathub org.cloudcompare.CloudCompare
Looking for matches?
error: No remote refs found for ?flathub?
That command comes from the CloudCompare download page itself, cloudcompare.org:
flathub packages are available for Linux.
[Flathub] type
flatpak install flathub org.cloudcompare.CloudCompare"
Whether you do it the system way or the user way is up to you. @knurpht prefers user-way — I prefer system way. Both have their advantages and disadvantages.
Yes, there was no flatpak source installed. Added flathub, now it shows:
Central repository of Flatpak applications - dl.flathub.org
with checkbox enabled. There is no “user” differentiation, however. Is that OK?
Question: to discover asks for root password to install CloudCompare flatpak.
Is that system-wide (for all users)? If so, how to install for current user only?
There is only one user in this box, but I suppose there is a difference, perhaps in access or security-wise.
Read Reply #2 in this thread from @knurpht … there is a URL … that will allow you to install Flatpaks as your user account. (and convert any from the system-wide to your user account.)
.
That’s why my screenshot shows two Flatpak entries, with one as “Flathub (user)” … that’s because I was originally using the “system-wide” … then ran the script from @knurpht and the “(user)” option showed up.
