I had a problem similar to yours.

I my case I needed to install the latest intel video driver.
So I went to <http://xorg.freedesktop.org/archive/individual/driver/>,
downloaded file “xf86-video-intel-2.99.917.tar.gz”, and installed it.

I got the idea by reading this blog:

It could be you just need to disable hardware acceleration in the flash settings

This has done it. Kind thank you and a star your way

No worries
Happy it helped.

i have not seen that bug for YEARS

are you sure this is not 2012

Could someone please explain how to do that for Qupzilla. I could not find anything in /.config/qupzilla/profiles/default/settings.ini

Thanks in advance.

You have to right click in the flash window.

I’m sorry. I must have been taking stupidity pills in my sleep, because I cannot find a “flash window” anywhere. Not on the main window and not in any part of the Preferences menu. I am using Version 1.8.7 WebKit version 537.21 Qt version 4.8.6 and Shockwave Flash 11.2 r202

I have found that not all flash windows present the menu of options on right click
Try a few sites
It worked on BBC for me
But it’s no longer a issue for me at all

My issue was with Youtube videos and specifically with Qupzilla which I really like. When I click to view the video, the message on the window that opens reads “An error occurred. Please try again later.” Wonderful error reporting! If I right-click in that window a menu opens that offers no useful settings. Not hardware acceleration which I want to turn off. But if I refresh the page the error message disappears and a circled “F” appears. Still no right-click menu of use. If I click on the “F” the video starts to play AND NOW a right-click brings up a menu with “Settings”. One of them is for hardware acceleration. Once de-selected the blue tones disappear and the video plays normally.

As for bbcnews.com I can’t get any videos to play regardless of my actions. Since they tend to be short I use youtube-dl to download them and view them locally.

Thanks to all for their assistance.
