Flash player stops playing randomly

Hello,

Whenever I try to watch something on youtube and than I switch tabs for a moment. Youtube player becomes all gray. It happens on other video hosting sites to. What can be the cause or how to diagnose it?

I’m using Google Chrome 5.0.552.215

Hi,

Do you have the same problem with other browser? Opera, Chrome/Chromium? Give it a try?

Wich version of Flash do you have?

I have the same problem with a flash based game,

Browser problem with 11.3 X86-64 playing DarkOrbit

Do you have the same symptoms with another browser? Try with Chromium.

I have tried it with several different browsers, the result is the same with all.

Yeah, I remember this thread… Didn’t have time to try your game though. :stuck_out_tongue:

Provide those please :

uname -a
rpm -qa | grep flash

Yes, I have the same problem on Opera, Google Chrome and Firefox. It looks like the plugin is failing somehow and it turns himself off. Right away after the failure some web pages displays me information that flash player isn’t installed. Web page refresh help but that’s really not a solution for me. :stuck_out_tongue:

uname -a
Linux linux 2.6.34.7-0.5-desktop #1 SMP PREEMPT 2010-10-25 08:40:12 +0200 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

rpm -qa | grep flash
flash-player-10.1.102.64-0.2.1.i586
pullin-flash-player-11.3.1-2.1.1.x86_64

That is weird because you have the flash-player 10.1.102 in 32 bits arch installed and you also have the flash-plugin in 64 bits arch. Maybe this is the culprit.

Your system is in 64 bits.

Deinstall the flash-player-10.1.102.64-0.2.1.i586 to see if it helps.

Got the same issue here and can see it in the following browsers:

FF 3.6.12
Chome 7.0.517.41

I had the same flash components installed:

rpm -qa | grep flash
flash-player-10.1.102.64-0.2.1.i586
pullin-flash-player-11.3.1-2.1.1.x86_64

Removed the 32bit flash app and restarted but didnt have any effect.

Any other ideas?

Within a 64bit system the 32bit version of the flash plugin is used
through the nspluginwrapper.
Currently there is no native 64bit flash plugin from Adobe.

Though there is a Beta which supports native 64bit:
http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/flashplayer10_square.html

For me it’s working much better than 32Bit through nspluginwrapper.
Installation is easy, just copy the libflashplayer.so to
/usr/lib64/browser-plugins/
and restart your browser.
If you want, I have a .rpm doing that for you.
