I have some real problems with flash Player. i was trying to update to 11.2 which i failed to do successfully. I then tried to uninstall and reinstall. now i am in a real mess. can anyone please help me get it back up again please?
Can you just clarify, because it’s hard to distinguish what sounds like a Distro Upgrade, from some random undefined issue with Flash Player
Upgrade 10.2 was where it began. Some webpage content was not viewable. I tried to add the updates but had no results. So i uninstalled through Yast and tried again. Now nothing
I need to reinstall then go back to working on getting the latest version. I wasn’t sure on how to install the updates to begin with.
Thanks caf4926
OK
So you are on about updating flash.
Earlier you mentioned 11.2, as if it was the OS you were updating
Why are you even trying to do this?
I was trying to install the latest version of Flash as it was not up to date according to the information some webpages were giving me. I had trouble viewing some vimeo videos and various other things. It directed me to this page to install the latest version.
Adobe - Install a different version of Adobe Flash Player
I was uncertain how to install and did not know which version of the choices to go with or even how to do it.I ended up in a mess because i tried installing just about everything, but nothing worked.
I then decided to uninstall through Yast and now i have nothing. I cannot view any embedded video, for example , You tube or vimeo, through either Firefox or seamonkey
Use YaST to install the package ‘flash-player’. The current version is provided by the ‘update’-repository (is this repository activated? Ceck with ‘zypper lr’).
Trying to install through Yast i get this message.
Software installation
The installation has failed. For more information, see the log file at /var/log/YaST2/y2log. Failure stage was: Adding Repositories
Error Message
An error occurred while attempting to subscribe to the required repositories. Review the yast2 logs for more information.
The following repositories could not be added
http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home%3a/matteotomasoni/openSUSE_11.2
There seems to be some real problems installing through yast as i keep getting error messages.
Please post the result of
zypper lr -d
Linuxinlennox, which way did you use to install the flashplayer? Obviously you used some fishy oneclicker or something, as it fails due to a non-existant repository (home:matteotomasoni). Don’t do that. Most oneclickers are **** and not needed.
Either way. ‘zypper lr -d’ will show us if you have the necessary repositories activated.
dave@dhcppc2:~> zypper lr -d

Delete all those crappy repos
Thanks caf4926. I deleted all most all of the crappy repos. Which ones should i have to make flash work in my web browsers?
All you need really is
OSS
NON-OSS
UPDATES
PACKMAN
Mozilla is OK too but that’s it
But flash is in Updates
Ok, i am not really sure how to do this.
Do i got to Yast, Package search (webpin), then use the above list items as search words eg. OSS, then install everything that comes up?
To remove repos
Use Yast > Software > Repositories
And remove all but those I quoted
I think I got myself in deep here. I deleted every repository. Now i am trying to reinstall the required ones, and i am unsure how to do that.
Open a terminal and become su -
do the following, using your mouse to copy and paste in to the terminal
zypper ar -f http://download.opensuse.org/distribution/11.3/repo/oss/ OSS
zypper ar -f http://download.opensuse.org/distribution/11.3/repo/non-oss/ NON-OSS
zypper ar -f http://download.opensuse.org/update/11.3/ UPDATE
zypper ref

Fantastic. Really appreciate the work you have put in to help me here caf4926.
I had a play around myself and it seemed to get it working as it was before.
I have now added your repos and the update. I expect there should be no problems whatsoever.
Learning lots. Thanks so much.
