I am finding a lot of issues with flash in 11.4 release. As I know it is flash issue, because some people after updating flash on 11.3 got the same problem.
Flash seams to be crashing or/and slowing down web browser. After trying to figure out where is the problem, i found that:
- removing SLI helped a little bit
- updating to beta (270) nvidia drivers helped a little bit (moving window with flash animation from one screen to another one that is connected to different graphic card does not crash the browser anymore)
But still the problem exists.
For example, sometimes when i minimize the window with flash animation and i open new window (e.g. with spreadsheet) and move it on the same place where was previous window with flash, I can see this flash animation as a background of the new window…
Also, when i am moving the window with flash around, the flash disappears or gets gray.
Sometimes, youtube does not load the movie, but if i open the movie in VM windows, it works fine. After reloading Xwindows it works for a while also in opensuse.
so, anybody has the same problem… how can i downgrade to the previous flash release?
mr_lukes, the problem you describe I also had and saw first hand. I am not sure that using the bleeding edge nVIDIA drivers really help either. Since openSUSE 11.4 came out with a beta version of Firefox, I place the basic problem with Firefox 4. Firefox is constantly being upgraded and surely in the near future, those fixes and updates will make their way to openSUSE 11.4. You can wait or you can drop back to version 3.6.15. Be aware that I can not tell you if going back to Firefox 4 will be a problem or not. Since the downgrade, I have had no issues with flash. Here is my article on switching to Firefox 3:
How To Switch to Firefox 3.6 in openSUSE 11.4
You may also want to make sure your Flash is installed properly. Here is test 13 from mmcheck. You may want to run this test as well:
13. Show if Flash Packages are Installed from openSUSE ...
Command: rpm --query --all --queryformat '%{NAME}-%{VERSION}-%{RELEASE}-%{ARCH} -> %{VENDOR}
' '*flash*'
pullin-flash-player-11.4.1-0.3.1-x86_64 -> openSUSE
flash-player-10.2.152.26-3.2.1-i586 -> openSUSE
You should expect to have only two Flash Packages Installed which will be:
----------------> pullin-flash-player <----- from the openSUSE Repository.
----------------> flash-player <------------ from the openSUSE Repository.
Another big problem can be Java. Here is test 14 from mmcheck:
14. Show if Java Packages are Installed from openSUSE ...
Command: rpm --query --all --queryformat '%{NAME}-%{VERSION}-%{RELEASE}-%{ARCH} -> %{VENDOR}
' '*java-*'
java-1_6_0-sun-alsa-1.6.0.u23-3.3-x86_64 -> openSUSE
java-1_6_0-sun-plugin-1.6.0.u23-3.3-x86_64 -> openSUSE
java-1_6_0-sun-1.6.0.u23-3.3-x86_64 -> openSUSE
You should expect to have only Sun Java Packages installed. If your files
include the name --> openjdk <--, it is suggested that they be uninstalled.
You can download mmcheck from here in message #69.

I am not sure what you want to do, but I am working fine after a Firefox downgrade and passing the mmcheck recommendations.
Thank You,
